SreedhareeyamProduct Research

Ayurveda Lab

Product Research & Development functions at Sreedhareeyam are not only associated with the development of new products, but also concerned with the improvement of existing products. Therefore, one of the Major tasks of Product Research & Development is to come up with Products that meet the needs of tomorrow.

Conversion of Classical Ayurvedic Medicines to User friendly Formulations by incorporating modern technology

Classical Ayurvedic Formulations like Aqueous Herbal Extracts (Kashayam), Medicated OILS etc have proven efficacy. But Herbal Extracts are bitter in taste, are packed in bottles and hence are difficult to carry around. One of the challenges facing the Ayurveda Industry in general is to convert Traditional Classical Ayurvedic Formulations to user friendly formulations like Hard Gelatin Capsules, Tablets, Syrups, Granules etc. without losing their efficacy. One of the areas where the Product Research and Development activities of Sreedhareeyam are concentrated is this.

Development of New Proprietary and Patent Products

Our parent Organization, Sreedhareeyam Ayurvedic Eye Hospital and Research Centre, is engaged in the treatment of Ophthalmic Disorders. A second area where the Product Research and Development activities of Sreedhareeyam are concentrated is Developing New Product Formulations. The Department also concentrates its efforts in establishing the efficacy of these products by Animal trials and in-vitro analytical procedures.

Standardization of Herbal Formulations

Department of AYUSH, under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India has entrusted Sreedhareeyam with the work of Standardization of classical Ayurvedic formulations. The work involves selection, identification and standardization of various herbs used in the formulations by Pharmacological, Physico Chemical and Instrumental analysis and estimating the presence and amount of Microbial Load & Aflatoxins, Pesticides and harmful Heavy metals like Lead, Mercury, Arsenic, Cadmium etc. The Research Department has a fully fledged Microbiological Laboratory and Modern Analytical Instruments like Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS) and High Performance Thin Layer Chromatography (HPTLC) to carry out these works.

Benefits of these activities:

  • Increasing the Quality of finished Products
  • Standardization of medicinal herbs and formulations
  • Increasing productivity
